Best Friends

 

I have been blessed with special kith/kin:

 

throughout Octogenarian life enriched.

 

Certain luminaries shine in and out:

 

like gossamer silk hand stitched.

 

 

They are in modern terms `besties’:

 

I know can call if I need help.

 

Whether it is a ride or company:

 

comfort when I feel like young whelp.

 

 

Life rocketing in these twilight years:

 

time selective for work and needs.

 

Musing on `besties’ gives me joy:

 

serenity like succor prayer beads.

 

 

I treasure you as one of my best friends:

 

as a believer, hope we perpetuate ongoing.

 

In the here and now, and sweet by & by:

 

contributing respect and grace overflowing.

June the 8th every year is National Best Friends Day and it's all about celebrating the friendships that are so important to us.
