I was Mom’s aide de camp from toddler age:

seventeen months, became big sister to newborn.

Mom was crippled from polio at age seven:

she claimed my help made her in heaven.

I never heard her once complain about pain:

couldn’t even walk without my arm to hang on.

She said multiple rosaries daily for others:

kith and kin were all sisters/brothers.

Her praise for me was constant:

Faccia Bedda was joy to my ears.

Beautiful face with blessed heart:

or Bedda Duci like sweet pastry tart.

I was eight or so when I whined:

Faccia brutto shattered my essence.

Ugly heart was hurled with vitriol:

don’t you dare be horrid with filial.

The lesson had an immediate effect:

but late twenties rose up to challenge.

life was winterish with multi blows:

sought counseling to justify woes.

I was instructed to list two columns:

left, all the bad, right all the good.

breathing/mobility/body/freedom et al:

good outweighed increasing morale.

He asked: how long do you want to cry:

I am indignant: don’t rain on my parade.

The wisdom was startling, epiphanic and true:

until I let go/forgave, I was faccia brutto shrew.

It was a lesson that repeated exponentially:

winters recurrent constantly from kith/kin.

One almost two decades ago almost killed me:

evil attacker was forgiven for heart was free.

Job’s lesson in Torah illuminating:

no one immune from pain/suffering/horror.

Foul heart courts cesspool preserving wound clift:

vs. copying role models Mandala/Murray who uplift.

Torah/Bible/New Age Philosophy offers illumination:

do not bear a grudge/as we forgive those/law of attraction.

Magnetize blessings of honor/eliminate life choking weeds:

change mind garden by sowing Mitzvahs aka good deeds.

What does the Torah say about grudges?

In the Bible, the words “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Lev. 19:18) are preceded by “you shall not bear a grudge.” As has been aptly said, to bear a grudge is to drink poison hoping the other person will die.Sep 20, 2021
