I was raised Roman Catholic:

praying synonymous with life.

Taught to pray from dawn to dusk:

gratitude/petition/happiness and strife.

 

Statues of venerable saints adorned home:

holy images juxtaposed almost every wall.

They represented heavenly role models:

notables to whom we could honor/call.

 

I knew basic prayers by age two:

Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be.

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit were familiar:

I could feel `THEM’, inwardly see.

 

 

 

I was five when misplaced special bauble:

Mom guided to Saint Anthony holding babe.

Say Hail Mary, ask him to find: famous of lost.

he was close to me not needing divine astrolabe. 

 

Within minutes I found treasured item:

ran praising him out loud: you are good!

He is patron whom I called perpetually:

I believe in him; atheists knock on wood.

 

Mid-twenties, made dramatic life change:

turned away from all religious teachings.

Sought/fixed scientific evolution principle:

ignored all heart/soul parched feelings.

 

Avocation began studying all faiths:

basics: roots, tenants, who followed.

Fascinating most acclaimed similar:

divine love/each other as hallowed.

 

 

Comparable also righteous identity:

`theirs’ best way to attain splendor.

Yet, also were covert prejudices:

actions bare semantic pretender.

 

Four issues in particular fell short:

women, sexual, abortion, divorce.

Yet, also believed divine guided:

thus, each one has unique course.

 

Everyone had inimitable attributes:

yet most failed north star hypothesis.

Inequality/heterosexual men dominant:

less: women/gay/minority in metropolis.

 

Conservative right dramatically dividing:

`HOLY’ interpretations worldwide rigid.

Even in USA Supreme Court – equality denied.

empathy/compassion/awareness/sympathy frigid.

 

 

I began assimilating `best’ of what I learned: 

coalesced A Renaissance Creative philosophy.

Thoued `ALL’ honoring higher/each other:

homage equal universal kith/kin theosophy.

 

Sanctioned nonprofit conceived solo service:

addicts/homeless/seniors/education/childcare.

Since 1968, numerous have been helped:

deed/commodities/money/tomes…& prayer.

 

Octogenarian slowing twilight years:

attack 2005 lowered sails considerably.

Yet, service still strong behind scenes:

and prayer/faith exponential literally.

 

I imitate heavenly mother’s teaching:

all family kith/kin individual names first:

friends/associates/neighbors – pets too:

righteous/military/arts shine like sunburst.

 

 

I ache for one/all trespassed against on earth:

yearn justice/infinite joy LEBEWESEN held dear.

I believe heart/mind/soul that prayers heard:

divine cosmos collective unconscious/noosphere.

 

In coma after attack heard mother’s voice call:

my childhood name and one word rang in cosmos.

“Names” she repeated several times along with mine:

my prayer list was heard: add more and hold close.

 

So, dear reader, from past/present/sweet by & by:

religiously I pray for you/yours to be blessed.

Please remember me when I cross over to heaven:

I’ve asked for 911 job: help one/all to eternal rest.
