ARC

I am aching, preparing myself for week from today.

Canine Paco to unite with pets at Rainbow Bridge.

He will join Penny, emotional support dog, given to me.

Paco, lost, showed up right before Penny went divine way.

Pepa, feline, was Penny’s trusted buddy.

Pepito, kitten, dropped on doorstep, grew to dominate.

So, Pepa left too, found nearby families to adopt her.

These pets introduced me to higher dimension to study.

Childhood bereft of pets, except cat to do outside onus.

I was determined my children would experience different.

Adopted kitten Angel/puppy Fawn who later birthed Cinder.

Contributed to family dynamics but then did not grasp bonus.

I never understood preferring pets to humans but do now.

It was after life was seriously threatened and recovering.

Unconditional love without judgment is religiously preached.

I now testify that canines excel in validating Buber’s `thou’.

In twilight I wonder human evolution claim of superiority.

In lifetime, WWII followed by one conflict after another.

America’s word origin stellar in equal fairness/justice.

In truth, far from mark, hatred/division over minority.

So, I salute the `animal kingdom’ where Paco belongs.

Kudos to luminaries who share what I have learned.

The truism is laudatory: ‘a dog is man’s best friend’.

Our pets in the sweet by and by inspire heartfelt songs.
