243 years is minute compared to Europe’s 7,500:

astonishing to ponder roots of nascent immigration;

fleeing poverty, oppression- yearning for affirmation.


How is it that desire for autonomy is prejudicial:

settlers requirements were at expense of premiers;

misnomed Indians were driven off to alleviate fears.


Give me liberty or give me death - rallying cry:

echoed Anglo Saxon men who owned slaves;

callous disenfranchisement birth to graves.


We hold these truths to be self-evident:

all created equal…unalienable rights…;

divine inspiration from unattainable heights.
