MEMORIAL DAY

I have many relatives who served;
three brothers: Air Force/National Guard/Navy:
son in Army and his adopted dad in Marines;
two uncles now sweet by and by -
fought WW II - one cousin did die.

I worked for Civil Service Army in Alaska;
my respect for military goes off the chart:
heart aches for those in hostile conflict;
sorrow, anguish, for universal kith and kin loss –
headstones symbolically adorned: star, crown, cross.

Daily I say prayers for transcended and living;
with poignant lament for wounded warrior:
and beseech Our Divine God to bless us;
increase Holy Spirit response in every one –
protect one/all – each daughter and son.
