After murderous attack, I lost two houses:
literally became homeless like those I helped.
Children succored/sheltered me in their abodes:
`senior interrupted’ was at major crossroads.
The first year was surreal to say the least:
felt as if I was in higher parallel universe.
I was spiritually comforted walking to daily mass:
needed to be among believers and prayers class.
Until one Sunday, had to walk out during sermon:
priest railing against homosexuals exclaiming sin:
I knew he was victim of false bible interpretation:
agony over perpetuation caused physical rotation.
I decided to go instead to nearby local park:
nature is divine church representing one/all.
One early Sunday morning saw `singing nun’.
her voice truly was like angel radiating sun.
She exclaimed she hadn’t seen me of late:
my explanation made her visibly upset.
She pleaded for me to continue habit:
promptly went believing divine gambit.
I arrived at the earliest Sunday mass:
laughter filled my soul’s quest.
It was in Spanish, so totally foreign:
language meaning same every warren.
I decided to assert to elder priest:
empathetic wisdom surprised me.
“Block your ears” when you hear error:
Primacy of Conscience right of each bearer.
But religious representatives still doing it:
preaching mistake to followers taught to obey.
Congregation innocent fallacies imparted for eons:
began originally with Roman Catholic Europeans.
And, to this day, leaders of Catholic/Christian thought:
perpetuating translations that are deeply misunderstood.
Out of context semantics are homophobically explained:
same done misogynistically for women eras constrained.
There is one religion role modeling free truthful inquiry:
Unitarian Universalists seek responsible spiritual meaning.
Creeds historically proclaimed by men embody platform:
burning/banning books, preserving false teachings is norm:
Religions safeguard false teachings to insure economics:
pews must be filled for donations to keep coffers full.
To make sure attendance is weekly plus extra occasions:
guilt induced if not there stating sin orthodox persuasions.
You see, `we the people’ are paying their salaries:
to ensure our patronage strategies must be used.
Asserting God commands obedience is decisive resource:
Torah/Old/New Bible Testaments is interpretative source.
Historian Harari’s eloquent writings challenges one/all:
beliefs perpetuated by men claiming appearance by God.
Multi dogmas resulted in wars, genocides, slavery…
righteous few/far between noted for their bravery.
I believe the highest aim is love/respect other as self:
hold sacred `divine’ ethos representing premier of all.
Equal respect translates taking place of the other:
universal kith/kin treated truly as sister/brother.
Until religious/political/secular leaders believe in this:
division, hatred, strive, chaos, wars will continue.
We repeat what we sow is threatening mantra:
peace/harmony will allude our prayed for tantra.
Imagine our `Pilgrim’s Progress’ like giant box Crayola’s:
each color represents life seasons of every possible trait.
My Octogenarian age has used up most of the box:
it’s natural to experience others who think act like fox.
Individual, Family, Nation will reap what they sow:
history is testimony of truth and false teachings.
Listen to `righteous’ who exclaim best:
block your ears to all the rest.
