Symbolic

SYMBOLIC

I was once taught interactions can be like selling:
for every 99 positives, have one negative
and/or opposite…99 nada to one compelling.

I’m blessed for primarily mine are positive:
it’s very rare to encounter negative
for I approach with spiritual causative.

sometimes though experience beyond:
kith or kin will transcend above all
magnificently bestowing wondrous wand.

Their loving gift symbolic of ALL good in life:
heart soars as in Gershwin’s: Of Thee I Sing
Strike up the cymbal, drum and fife!

I'm In Mourning

I’m In Mourning ARC © 11/10/16

America has always been hypocritical from birth:
our first immigrants fled from oppression.
freedom desire seeded Revolutionary War:
idealist constitution via actions of suppression.

WASP ruled: Indian, Women, Black, Asian, Mexican:
slowly but surely holy illumination grew closer to fact.
Blacks freed, women vote, minorities equivalent closer:
now a `dark age’ election that has set us centuries back.

Who’s To Blame? is our coursing commentary:
Media, Religion, Intellectuals…one after another.
How easy it was/is to get off message from on High:
Love with whole mind/heart/soul - each as sister/brother.

So now I pray for A Renaissance Curative:
dear Universal Kith & Kin, let’s begin anew.
Illumination…James Martin, SJ, Robert Reich, PBS:
Our Statue of Liberty exemplifies holy words to renew.

The New Colossus
Emma Lazarus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Choices And Compromise

CHOICES AND COMPROMISE
ARC © Saturday 10/29/16 @ 10:00 A.M.

I was toddler in home touting Democrats;
Dad/Mom were FDR and Truman fans.
Education cultivated astute awareness;
Religion, Business, Politics…all had plans.

Each had agendas with rigid mandates;
basic underpinning: not for us than against.
Policies and beliefs were like boxing matches;
emotions passionate ala Civil War incensed.

I was young when I learned about WWII;
country divided between yes or no to war.
The evil danger was there for all to see;
but fear and division alienated country corps.

Division similar now tearing America apart;
yet compromised choice is simple answer for most.
which has demonstrated parity/love of neighbor best;
one affirming social policies is one that can boast.

I’m 75, well-educated, a devotee to public service;
Psychological and Political Astuteness is perceptive.
No matter what division, I am urging one/all;
Democratic Party is best prospect for equal respective.
