It takes $1,000 a day to incarcerate;
$100 a day to upkeep soldier;
$10 a day to support…

Economic dollars and cents logic prevail;
social empathy like money in bank;
similar to depository Knox Fort.

For if we needed call to arms;
we have manpower action;
imprisoned would thwart.

Bored unemployed susceptible to crime;
addictions maneuver into sanity;
consume will ability to abort.

Seeding future potential with sponsorship;
is like making loans for equity power;
equality finest in democratic court.

Reb’s attributes extensive: exceptional, positive, transcendent.
1996 sent by God to help me/nonprofit with recovery indigent…

Father/grandfather – mentor – friend – hard working…
farmer, tradesman, multi skills master: relentlessly learning.
Eidetic memory juxtaposed with common sense discerning…
social concerns: fairness, equality, rights for all yearning.

He saved my life a decade ago confronting evil in its face…
without hesitation he rushed to my aid at breakneck pace.
His sacrificing prayer for sparing my life was pure grace…
he goes above and beyond… great/colloquialism: an ace.

Outdoors: preferred abode…hunting/fishing favored to do...
side by side drinking with buddies…beer favorite brew.
He’s also great cook: BBQ out to kitchen culinary stew…
necessity stimulates fixing to creative thingamajig debut.

He epitomizes classic image of the Marlboro Man…
ancestry: Netherlands Rebstein/German Rebstock clan.
Wisdom/wit exponentially magnified current lifespan…
in addition to heartfelt gratitude, I’m his biggest fan.

Neighbor Rebecca

Her name means captivating, social, charming.

She is all that and more my neighbor, Rebecca.

She personifies the ultimate in neighborly warmth.

Her hospitality is like an inviting oasis mecca.


I pray daily for her – kith and kin.

And I revel in the blessings bestowed on me.

I thank God continuously for loving neighbors.

She exemplifies Buber’s philosophy of thou and thee.


This little rhyme is inspired to thank you/yours.

May God multiply blessings you kindly share.

Your generosity is above and beyond.

I so appreciate how you treat me with loving care.

The Top of the Pecking Order: WASP.
White Anglo Saxon Protestant: elite of USA.
Here First: Seeking Autonomy/Freedom to Pray.

These immigrants to America were from England.
They brought slavery juxtaposed with liberal wisdom.
Then spawned revolution to fight against birth kingdom.

Early America’s colonists in 1776 won independent fight.
Soon after: 1812 mother country rose up again to chastise.
Its powerful dominion determined to reduce fledgling size.

Again novice émigrés, after prodigious defeat, succeeded.
America now rooted towards manifest destiny: self-ruled mass.
WASPs at the top: women, Indian, black, disenfranchised class.

Contemporary immigrants flooding European/American borders.
England’s answer BREXIT; USA Presumptive’s goal build wall.
Current climate over universal state of affairs is despondency pall.

Survival of the fittest…evolution’s heritage…WASPS at the top.
Emma Lazarus’ The New Colossus ideally symbolized universal LOVE.
But WASP’s definitely don’t want `poor’ and/or avocation from ABOVE.

Prodigal's Brother

I have a nephew who IS steadfast, loyal, true:
having qualities that go above and beyond.

He is hard working, faithful to family/friends:
salt of the earth in contrast to beau monde.

In Luke 15: 11-32 Parable of the Prodigal Son:
emphasis is recklessly extravagant’s redemption.

Reference two brothers: one loyal, one wasteful:
lone who remained steadfast unlauded in preemption.

It was he who exhibited the class of definitive love:
tirelessly working, giving, caring, sharing supplicant.

This is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 adoration exposition:
patient, kind, honorable, rejoicing in divine ultimate.

My familial kin role models the best:
substance of what saints are all about.

He blesses me with constant of love/respect:
truly appreciated by grateful aunt: so I tout!

It’s spring…renewal…hope bursting…faith:

certain special people are like SPRING.

They are there: faithful…helpful…energizing;

like bells that sway back and forth – they RING.


There is a color and sound to them:

what is dreary brightens up with sunshine rays.

Music fills the air with melodic catchy sounds;

there is a lilt to steps taken throughout my days.


I am blessed with new friends guided to me:

they transport, listen, mentor, help as able.

I need to learn, grow, and expand horizons;

Thank you for including me at hospitality table.

I go to daily mass; check cell phone text before end;
best friend alerts ` on for breakfast’ with: I’m Here.

Inner and outer smile infuses throughout my being;
soul sister exemplifies the best: I hold her very dear.

Here I Am Lord is poignant hymn resonating from soul;
refrain: I have heard you calling in the night…defines me.

Septuagenarian life orchestrated in answering spiritual call;
Love Commandments root with multifaceted branches my tree.

Same for her, yet our lives have taken dramatic opposite paths;
one marriage, nurse, caretaker for daughter now sweet hereafter.

Me: several nuptials/careers: child education, psychology, recovery;
two children also but grands/greats and kaleidoscope party laughter.

She, though younger, exemplified wisdom/spiritual maturity first;
pain, suffering, death daily patient crisis wraps her morning to night.

Her direct path to divine holy orders, acceptance, and obedience are pure;
most of my life like Scarlett - getting closer to Melanie…late making right.

We were guided to each other by divine mystery’s synchronicity;
decade ago lives converged and revolved around daughter’s trauma.

I was recovering from horrific ordeal – so needed friendship and support;
she needed same – we grew closer together week by week over life drama.

Now saintly daughter is orchestrating our bond from heavenly abode;
we feel her young life next to similar Saint Teresa guiding and caressing.

I am so grateful to this mother and daughter who have influenced me so;
my twilight years have been enriched because of them: a divine blessing.
