NIECES AND NEPHEWS

Thank you God,

For my nieces and nephews:
great ones too
who show me honor and respect;
color my life with brilliant hue.

Sibling memories from youth
are revivified through them:
all the seasons of joy through sadness
via heritage stem.

The joy and wonderment
that pleases me most of all:
they validate, enrich family legacy -
truly standing tall.

Although occasions in vivo are rare,
miles keep us apart:
prayers for them and theirs are faithfully said daily -
perpetually impressed upon heart

Sometimes educators are so omniscient
students are not only safe but mesmerized
at the symphony of instruction presented -
scoring from one instrument of thought to another
conducting with stories/laughter: harmony proficient.

Serious students find learning in their presence
exhilarating and enjoyable at each lesson assembly
replaying the melody of thought that they heard -
realizing that because of teacher’s skilled uniqueness
comprehension enriched and added to their essence.

Rabbi Abba Perelmuter is gifted venerable sage;
in his Kaballah class I learn and grow:
Hashem becomes even closer -
with the miracle and mystery of life
illuminating even more in twilight age.
