ARC is a federal/state approved nonprofit I founded over four decades ago with mission of caring/sharing as able without government/grant funding.

Since 1900, primary focus was homeless outreach refuge/services.

Oct. 2005 ARC borrowed start-up monies for new shelter in upstate N.Y. with helping Veterans as primary focus;
1st guest was vet sleeping in the woods.

I had done `my homework’…the need was there; no need licensening.
Two representatives from the local VA visited me;
told me rules/regulations forced them to `not give referrals’ except to licensed facilities;
a local judge had the `inside track’ on housing.

Alas, according to local information, accommodations left much to be desired;

veterans were helpless/hopeless.

Guests received at ARC week complimentary - then donation rate was $100.00 per week.

In the past, this was subsidized by general relief, and/or SSI.

All of this was cut short when social services referred a young white man with violent history.

I had alerted all that I was alone in new area: stated please no referrals with violent past.

He had attacked his own father/grandfather: authorities called.

Everyone dropped the ball…sent him to me.

Three days later, he attacked another guest who thank God got away, called for help.

In the meantime, I was being assaulted.

Visiting Kimosabe saved life.

My miracle life was saved: 42 stab wounds, in a coma for two months.

I lost everything. The irony of it all though was `everyone denied culpability’.

And that’s why I am primarily writing.

Government officials seem to `lead the pack’ in talking with a forked tongue.

It so reminds me of the fable: The Emperor With No Clothes. Say one thing, mean another.

I once read how a community spent over a million dollars starting home to help homeless.

There is upcoming a ballot measure in my local community to do the same.

I am not sophisticated in `macro ways’…but it seems simple enough…do the studies,

do the projects, perpetuate and keep safe government jobs,

but the creative solutions that can truly help are ignored.

Shame, shame, shame.

My book, Recovery Help, is on Kindle, lowest possible donation price: Free by requesting.

Prayers daily one/all. RN/ARC

Playing Cards

PLAYING CARDS © ARC May 22, 2014, 5:56 AM Thursday

I grew up playing cards as primary entertainment.

Mom taught us math, spelling, all sorts of learning skills.

My siblings and I advanced to War and Casino.

Teenage years Canasta dominated: elegant with no frills.

Poker was for grown ups; gin rummy best when only two.

I loved camaraderie/kibitzing: it was all about socializing for me.

I avoided serious competitive players who turned fun into discomfort.

Cards like sports could become contentious - rudeness overrule glee.

Bridge was avoided for over seventy years: rigid reputation.

New factors suddenly thrust game into my heightened awareness.

I was being challenged as never before throughout septuagenarian life.

Teacher and classmates portrayed the highest in neighbor friendliness.

I was a visual learner: rote memorization difficult all of my days.

Impossible task remember bidding strategies covering gamut of pages.

Weeks turned into months with seemingly no progress made at all.

Then finally some things starting to click in bit by bit stages.

I salute notable instructor Inge for patience extraordinaire.

Showcased shout out to classmates who empathetically share.

It doesn’t get any better than this than to learn and have fun.

Kudos to like minded peers who reach out and lovingly care.

Dear Saint Joseph Parish:
I was visiting Saturday evening, May 3.
Such a beautiful church.
It is a testimony when parishioners role model the best.
I do not drive: eight years ago opening new homeless shelter under ARC:
violently assaulted - 42 stab wounds, blind in one eye.
Pick-up ride late: waiting near the highway; man stopped offered to help.
As time increased, I went back near the church.
Gabrielle?, kept me company; we said a prayer together that my ride would be o.k..
Half-hour later daughter-in-law pulled up; mixed up about time.
I later perused bulletin, if you need a ride to mass…so impressed!
I recently wrote Pope applauding how he is doing a survey asking input…shared how I am ultra liberal -
so desirous for enlightened views on contemporary issues,
and how I pray that God, Jesus, Holy Spirit increase in every man, woman, child. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholics_United
I truly believe that if the church was offering full economic care and protection for mother/child,
choice would be in favor of carrying and keeping and/or releasing for dual adoption.
I also believe that God is increasing `call’ for androgynous individuals regarding earth carrying capacity.
I also suggested that there should be `more walk the talk’
like Saint Boniface in San Francisco that lets homeless sleep in their pews. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/31/st-boniface-church-san-francisco_n_2592275.html
Your church seems to be doing just that with a food pantry, library, help in other areas.
I salute the light within you. God Bless, ARC
