One of the weirdest times in my life

HYDROCODONE BITARTRATRATE

 

Opiate 

 

A drug used to treat moderate to severe pain and cough. Hydrocodone bitartrate is made from codeine and binds to opioid receptors in the central nervous system. It is a type of analgesic agent, a type of antitussive, and a type of opiate.

 

So, the new drug arrived to my relief – 7-day supply – supposed to last 12 hours.

 

I normally retire at 6 PM; up/down throughout the night for bathroom needs.

 

Well, the 1^st day of use, does not hold up…six hours lasting.

Ibuprofen was lasting 4 hours.

 

I literally have been waking up screaming; inch myself to shower for 

hot water to focus on lower back; then slater with Voltaren – shift on and Magic Gel Ice pack for lower back wrapped around waist.

 

When SON not home, I text him when ready to walk Monty.

 

So, it’s yesterday; and I am meeting librarian friend who was quite instrumental in encouragement regarding my writing.  First time socializing; hadn’t seen each other since before COVID.

 

That a.m. I had taken the new pain pill; arrived home at 2 PM - 10+ pain – alas, lasting maybe eight hours.  I quick take an Ibuprofen.

 

Text my son, little nap.  Get up; 6 PM – take big pain pill and normal night time meds; lie down.

 

I wake up to screaming pain – look at clock 7:30, light outside.

I assume a congratulatory thought; oh, yeah, the new pain pill did last 12 hours…so I get up – follow normal routine…bathroom shower, Voltaren, ice pack – text my son, walking Monty.

 

I start out, see neighbor watering lawn, stop to talk – know she too, is a believer, ask her to pray.  She is so on board.  I have been cutting walk in half, but needed to drop something off at another neighbors at end of street.

 

By the time I get there, noticing something really funny; it’s dark!

What’s going on…moon is bright.

 

I barely make it home; call my son, ask him ETA – he says tomorrow.  What do you mean tomorrow, you said Sunday. 

Mom, tomorrow is Sunday.

 

So, bottom line, I got up only after an hour and a half, thinking it was the next day – narcotic changed my whole worldview.

 

It’s a first experience for me; weird is putting it mildly.

 

I have to share, because I know I am going to have to increase Ibuprofens along with the new off their prescribed schedule, 

but frankly, the pain is just unbearable.

 

My empathy is skyrocketing for anyone who has ever had with special remembrance of my mother, who suffered every day crippled feet from polio as a youth: role modeled endure/pray!

My son has sacred mate impersonating as a human:

truly, she is epitome of a celestial angel on earth.

Just a few of the traits are: grace, respect, kindness:

I haven’t asked, but pretty sure, that way from birth.

She is a professional cellist, plays and teaches too:

a gifted teacher sharing her love for one/all.

Men/women/children/pets benefit from her persona:

if you need help, all you have to do is text or call.

Once at family gathering, she sat down at the piano:

I was awed, trained on one, yet easily play another.

She has that rare serenity that soothes and calms:

everyone is treated as kith/kin – sister or brother.

Son/family all blessed by her: sweeter than wine:

her name meaning is apropos: heavenly/divine.

I am on magic memory high, doing happy dance:

reached out for someone to play Bridge with me.

I made sure to state social player, 1st not a chance:

competitive luminary responded, heard soul plea.

All who know me recognize I am a believer:

went on massive action prayer, reward class.

Please, guide play so that he is joyful receiver:

first time prayed/heard, top place ahead of mass.

It wasn’t for me I wanted, but special for him:

love when goodness is rewarded for caring.

Plan on going weekly for they teach how to win:

if no partner, will provide one who is sharing.

Asking future Tuesday partners to email if willing:

last, first, or in the middle, social play is thrilling!

Bridge Back-Up

                                   My sabbatical Bridge goal is hurting me:

 

needed extra time to finish promised memoir.

 

Multi-months passed, six more planned as busy bee:

 

but isolation/lonesomeness depressing, not up to par.

 

 

I prefer being back-up to competitive luminaries:

 

like documentary portrayed 20 feet from Stardom.

 

preference social play vs set of viable adversaries:

 

not many want to play with me creates conundrum.

 

 

I will probably achieve writing goal end of 2024:

 

but realizing now may be at expense of health.

 

Irony, more prolific when keeping social corps:

 

I sponge renascent energy, better than wealth.

intermittent player(s) Palms/Club with soul agape.

Best Friends

 

I have been blessed with special kith/kin:

 

throughout Octogenarian life enriched.

 

Certain luminaries shine in and out:

 

like gossamer silk hand stitched.

 

 

They are in modern terms `besties’:

 

I know can call if I need help.

 

Whether it is a ride or company:

 

comfort when I feel like young whelp.

 

 

Life rocketing in these twilight years:

 

time selective for work and needs.

 

Musing on `besties’ gives me joy:

 

serenity like succor prayer beads.

 

 

I treasure you as one of my best friends:

 

as a believer, hope we perpetuate ongoing.

 

In the here and now, and sweet by & by:

 

contributing respect and grace overflowing.

Divine Creation advocates free will/choice first gift:

 

evolution states strength/fittest is the cause of all.

 

Modern Science uncovers paradigm mysteries:

 

humans hyped highest, yet destroy with evil gall.

 

 

Religions teach LOVE higher, respect Other as self:

 

yet, animal kingdom shines in comparison to beings. 

 

They do not sit and plot destruction of their kind:

 

anyone, owning dog, will attest have higher feelings.

 

 

I have had multi synchronicity incidents thru life: 

 

some, as if precognition, came dramatically real.

 

`Fear’ acted drama class was chased by man with knives:

 

three decades later happened/42 stab wounds/still surreal.

 

 

Another one of a lighter tone was lesson to young son:

 

asked me difference between positive/negative attitude.

 

Gave him example of vehicle breaking down, call for aid:

 

happened exactly that way days later as if scene construed.

 

 

So, let’s assume, each one connected to Divine Source:

 

think of your cell phone, satellite, instant connection.

 

Thus, if Almighty Intelligence is all knowing, see future:

 

also, have ability infinite magisterial talent every dimension.

 

Explains Gifted Savants transcend innatism/tabula rasa:

 

i.e. Lemke adopted, blind/cerebral palsy, plays Tchaikovsky.

 

or, Babbitt, aka Rain Man has encyclopedia knowledge:

 

most fall into IQ range of 70-85 without college degree.

2006 and 2007 were surreal in recovery mode:

 

horrific murderous attack on life took its toll.

 

Initial prognosis of nursing home was negated:

 

loving rehabilitation by self/faith/family sowed.

 

 

But 2008 social isolation amplified loneliness:

 

positive energy from kith/kin renews/heals.

 

I needed complimentary communal group:

 

economics limited basics, nada fun access.

 

 

Prayers answered – gratis Bridge lessons:

 

first offered at nearby Jewish center.

 

Followed OLLI scholarship at main club:

 

game challenging/fun like sweet molasses.

 

 

Bridge can be very competitive or just for fun:

 

medical field touts excellent for mental agility.

 

Preference for me was social stimulation:

 

loved clapping those who aspired `top gun’.

 

 

Past years I have met phenomenal confreres:

 

truly familial in tender respect/joyful repartee.

 

They have touched/enriched me, I have grown:

 

daily one/all/theirs are in constant prayers.

 

 

Mon Ami who saved life offered 20 up for me:

 

not superstitious but 12/16/2025 is rebirth date. 

 

Still so much to write, plus need to finish memoir:

 

thus, game I love, limbo 2024, allowing 2025 free.

 

 

Praying future symbiotic partners will call:

 

those who too enjoy last place, clapping for higher.

 

Celebrating with me joy of communal friendship:

 

treasuring fruitful unions, the highest windfall!
